9. Moules –frites
Moules-frites is a great classic dish that is loved and often made in French and Belgian bistros. There’s a good reason for this. Mussels go well with crispy fries just like meatballs with spaghetti. Mussels are one of the most popular staples in Belgium. Since they’re both inexpensive and available in plenty, they were previously considered a poor man’s dish. For a long time, they’ve been combined with fried potatoes at Belgium’s most famous shops. Today, the belief that the dish originated from Belgium remains strong because it’s the Belgians that first paired fries with mussels.
